The AFN Soul Preservation Band & Orchestra is a cultural preservation initiative dedicated to preserving the legacy of classic R&B, Soul, Motown, Funk, and related musical traditions through education, performance, mentorship, and community engagement.
The purpose of the AFN Soul Preservation Band & Orchestra is to:
• Preserve the history and cultural significance of R&B, Soul, Motown, and Funk music
• Honor musicians, vocalists, composers, arrangers, and performers who shaped these traditions
• Provide opportunities for musicians and community members to participate in cultural preservation initiatives
• Educate youth and future generations about the origins and impact of African American musical heritage
