Support a Planned Paid Summer-Jobs Program for Young Artists
The African Nation is working to develop the AFN Art Academy as its first major paid youth summer-jobs program. The planned academy will give young people an opportunity to learn, create, complete meaningful assignments, build portfolios, and receive compensation for their summer-job responsibilities after the program is fully funded and officially launched. Participants will be encouraged to draw inspiration from their surroundings, cultures, families, communities, and personal experiences while developing skills in drawing, painting, observation, composition, and visual storytelling.
Why This Program Matters
Many young people need summer opportunities that offer more than recreation. They need structure, responsibility, encouragement, useful instruction, and the dignity of being compensated for meaningful work. The planned AFN Art Academy will combine artistic development with workplace expectations. Youth participants may be responsible for attendance, punctuality, assigned projects, care of materials, safe conduct, teamwork, reflection, portfolio preparation, and participation in a final public exhibition. AFN intends to operate the summer jobs directly. Outside internships or employer placements may be offered later as additional opportunities, but they will not be required for youth to participate in or be compensated through the AFN-operated Art Academy.
What Contributions May Help Support
• Youth wages and payroll-related program costs
• Qualified art instructors, assistants, and program supervision
• Drawing, painting, and mixed-media supplies
• Easels, tables, storage, protective materials, and classroom equipment
• Facility rental and program utilities
• Transportation for supervised plein air painting outings and approved field activities
• Meals, refreshments, and participant support
• Insurance, safety planning, background checks, and administrative compliance
• Student portfolios, framing, display materials, and exhibition preparation
• Photography, printing, outreach, and community engagement
• General program administration and responsible launch expenses
Every contribution, regardless of size, can help AFN build the foundation required to create paid summer jobs for young people.
Sponsorship Opportunities
AFN may recognize approved sponsors on the website, selected printed materials, exhibition signage, program acknowledgments, and other appropriate communications. Recognition should reflect the nature and level of support and remain subject to AFN approval. Sponsorship recognition does not give a donor or sponsor control over youth selection, employment decisions, curriculum, safety rules, program operations, or organizational governance.
In-Kind Contribution Guidelines
Before bringing or shipping donated goods, contributors should contact AFN and provide a description of the proposed items. AFN may accept or decline contributions based on program need, condition, storage, transportation, safety, compatibility, and available facilities. AFN should not promise a specific charitable deduction value. Donors are responsible for maintaining their own records and consulting a qualified tax professional regarding deductibility and valuation.
A Community-Supported Beginning
The Art Academy is intended to become the first visible example of AFN’s paid youth summer-employment mission. Its responsible launch will depend on broad support from individuals, families, businesses, artists, educators, cultural institutions, suppliers, and community partners. By helping AFN establish this first program, supporters can contribute to a model that combines employment, education, creativity, accountability, cultural expression, and hope
